Rock keyboard legend Keith Emerson is known worldwide for fusing rock ‘n’ roll with a myriad of musical styles, such as classical, jazz and world music. With both “The Nice” and “Emerson, Lake & Palmer,” Emerson has written and recorded some of rock’s most adventurous music. In addition to his career as an iconic rock star, Emerson has created several film scores, including the orchestral score for Universal Studios feature release, “Nighthawks,” starring Sylvester Stallone and Billy Dee Williams and cult Italian horror master Dario Argento’s “Inferno.”
During this intimate conversation with Keith, we will discuss a wide variety of subjects, from his days with \”The Nice” and “Emerson Lake, & Palmer” through his experiences scoring feature films and, of course, what he is doing now. We¹ll get his personal perspective on the recently produced bio-pic about him, “Pictures Of An Exhibitionist, and we’l ask him how accurate the public perception of him has been, and whether he thinks his wildly energetic, “crazy” stage persona matches his real-life offstage personality. How does the music business and the music itself differ today from how it was in the crazy heydays of the 60′s and the 70¹s? What has it been like for him to try and balance musical and artistic integrity with commerciality?
This in-depth conversation should be fascinating for musicians, composers, and music fans alike. The discussion will be led by Alan Brewer, film producer, score composer, and music producer who has worked in the studio with the likes of Pete Townshend, Clarence Clemons, Rick Derringer, and another UK spawned keyboard legend, Rick Wakeman of “Yes.” An audience Q&A will follow.
